St Oswald’s needs you

Green fingers and a few hours to spare each week? If so, St Oswald’s Hospice, in Gosforth would love to hear from you. St Oswald’s urgently require volunteers to help weed, water and watch over their many gardens on Tuesdays and Fridays. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to lend a hand and learn. Summer lawn maintenance, problems, pests and my recommendations.

The lawn will be growing quickly now and you should be cutting at least twice a week to maintain a compact tidy lawn which will also help with weed control. In hot dry weather you should raise the height of cut on your lawn mower to avoid the grass being scorched and discoloured, although still continue mowing twice weekly.
